Still working from home? No end in sight?! Struggling to make it work? It may be time to accept this “working from home” thing isn’t necessarily going anywhere for a while and to make sense changes to ensure that it works best for your productivity and sanity! Harrison Real Estate and Coldwell Banker have identified a few useful tips to help transform your work from home tactics and habits to achieve greater productivity!
1. Create a dedicated spaceÂ
It can be tempting to bring the laptop to the couch or use the dining room table but that would mean constantly moving your work space. Find a spot in your home and dedicate it as your office. This helps distinguish the space in your home between your home and your office. It can be as simple as a desk in a corner of a room, but dedicate that 1 desk and that 1 chair as your space. Be sure to keep it tidy and with your essentials in hand (water, pens, office supplies, brain food). This will help you focus and avoid distractions.
2. Stick to a schedule
Your pre-COVID schedule may not be possible due to family now being home with you. Your working schedule may become more flexible and work hours anything but normal, but find creative ways to stick to goals. For example, Monday is a focus on marketing and Tuesday is a focus on follow up phone calls, etc. That way even if you can’t look at the big picture every day, you can break it up into small segments and tackle the big picture through little details.
3. Dress for Success
Okay, okay we all love sweatpants and a good baseball cap. But, getting out of your pajamas helps your mindset and gets you more energized. Plus, you’ll always prepared in case you have a surprise video call!
4. Stay Connected
Use technology to stay connected to those in your office and field. Your key is to identify goals and find motivation from others as well as inspire others.
5. Fresh Air
Remember to get fresh air. Productivity doesn’t mean non-stop, limitless work. Working past normal office hours or on scheduled days-off can be easy at home, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting quality work done. Take time to step back, get fresh air, peaceful sleep and good food! A healthy balance is vital.
At the end of the day, some revised space, good habits, and a healthy balance will yield you success. Â
